Coach terms

These terms apply to anyone who offers coaching plans on Chalk. They add to the Terms of Service, which still apply to you as a user. Where the two conflict, these coach terms win for coaching activity.

Who can coach on Chalk

You must be at least 18 and of the age of majority where you live, provide accurate information about yourself, and hold any qualifications you claim. You are responsible for complying with the laws, licensing rules, and insurance requirements that apply to coaching where you and your athletes are located.

You are independent

You are not an employee, contractor, partner, or agent of Chalk. You decide whom to coach, what to program, and what to charge. Chalk provides the tools and the marketplace; the coaching relationship and its results are yours.

Payments and fees

Athletes pay for your plans through our payment provider, Stripe, and you receive payouts through a Stripe account connected to Chalk. Chalk keeps a platform fee from each athlete payment. The fee is 10% of the payment on a monthly Chalk Coach plan, or if you have no Chalk Coach subscription, and 5% on a yearly Chalk Coach plan. Payouts are subject to Stripe’s terms, verification, and timing. You are responsible for your own taxes. Refunds and chargebacks on your plans are your responsibility, and we may deduct them from future payouts.

Chalk Coach subscription

Coaching tools are available with a Chalk Coach subscription, billed through the App Store on the terms shown at purchase. There is no per-client pricing. Cancelling your subscription ends access to the coaching tools at the end of the paid period; your existing athlete plans may be paused or ended, and you should tell your athletes before that happens.

Athlete data

Your athletes trust you with sensitive information: training, nutrition, body measurements, photos, and messages. You may use it only to coach them. Do not sell it, share it outside Chalk without the athlete’s permission, or keep copies after the coaching relationship ends if the athlete asks you to delete them. Handle any health data with the care it deserves.

Conduct

• Keep athletes safe. Program within your competence and refer out when something is beyond it.
• Do not promise results, diagnose conditions, or present yourself as a medical professional unless you are one.
• No harassment, no body-shaming, no pressure to buy.
• Some athletes are 16 or 17. Keep every interaction with an athlete under 18 professional and on Chalk, and follow the laws on working with minors that apply where you and they live.
• Respond to your athletes within a reasonable time. If you go away, tell them.

Your content

You own the programs, templates, videos, and posts you create. You give Chalk a license to host, display, and deliver them to your athletes and, for public content, to other users. Make sure you have the rights to anything you upload.

Suspension and removal

We can suspend or remove coaches who break these terms, receive credible safety complaints, or harm the community. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If you are removed, we may help your athletes end or transfer their plans.

Liability

You are responsible for the coaching you provide and agree to cover Chalk for claims that arise from it, including claims by your athletes. Chalk’s liability to you is limited as described in the Terms of Service.

Changes

We may update these terms. Significant changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect.
